Brandon Inge, Ryan Raburn Each Drive In Five

The Tigers came home and put on some fireworks before the actual fireworks display as they dismantled the Athletics 14-1.  The Tigers wasted no time and their five run first inning was capped off by a grand slam by Ryan Raburn.  From there, the Tigers kept piling the runs on.  Brandon Inge and Raburn each finished with five RBIs while Clete Thomas and Miguel Cabrera each scored four runs.  Magglio Ordonez also pitched in with a three for three, two run and two RBI game.

Lost in all the offense was another nice start by Edwin Jackson.  He gave up just one run on six hits in seven innings and his six strikeouts kept his strikeout ratio well above his career average.  Lucas French made his major league debut and he pitched a shutout ninth.

The Royals won so the Tigers are still in first by a percentage point.  It’ll be Rick Porcello against Dallas Braden in a chilly night game tonight.
