Tigers Close to Signing Rick Porcello

It looks like the Tigers are close to signing Rick Porcello, the team’s first round draft pick this year, to $7.7 million deal.  The terms appear to be a $3.7 million signing bonus and then $4 million over four years.  The way things work now with the August 15th deadline and the slotting rules (I’ll be talking about this in tomorrow’s Business of Baseball Report), it probably won’t be announced officially until close to the actual deadline.

Another guy to keep an eye on is the Tigers fourth round draft pick, Charles Furbush.  He’s been dominating in two stops at the lower end of the Tigers minor league system.
