The All Star break is here and the Tigers went into with a blowout win over the Indians this afternoon. Justin Verlander picked up his tenth win and Brandon Inge belted his 20th and 21st home runs in the 10-1 win. Oddly, even with Inge’s two home runs, he was outshined by Clete Thomas, who belted a triple then a home run in his first two at bats. He came a double short of hitting for the cycle but he finished with five RBIs. Marcus Thames also had a nice game and he went four for four with three runs and an RBI.
Verlander improved to 10-4 with seven shutout innings. He gave up five hits and three walks and he struck out seven. Zach Miner was the lone Tiger to give up a run while Bobby Seay threw a shutout inning of relief and his numbers look better and better. Ditto for Fu-Te Ni, who got the final two outs of the game for Detroit.

The White Sox lost so the Tigers lead at the break is three and a half games (four in the loss column). The Tigers kick off the second half in New York against the Yankees so it’s not going to get any easier. Hopefully the break will do the Tigers some good and I’m looking forward to seeing the four Tigers play on Tuesday. The Futures game is on right now because of a rain delay. Scott Sizemore is the Tigers rep. and he’s one for two with a run.
