The Tigers lost their third straight tonight as they opened up their three game series against the Royals. It’s too bad because Armando Galarraga pitched his guts out. He gave up just one run on five hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in seven innings. He pitched so good, he almost got his ERA under 5.00. The bad news is, for as good as he pitched, he didn’t get the win because the pen game up three runs in two innings. Joel Zumaya gave up the lead in the eighth when he gave up two runs and while the hitters bailed him out by tying the game in the ninth on an RBI double by Ryan Raburn, Fernando Rodney gave up a solo blast in the top of the ninth to Mike Jacobs and that proved to be the game winner.
Darkman ipod The Tigers scored their eighth inning run off of a familiar face. I didn’t realize Roman Colon was with the Royals and he’s had a solid season to date. Colon hasn’t pitched for the Tigers since their World Series season in 2006 and he hasn’t pitched for the Tigers organization since 2007. Colon came over to the Tigers back in 2005 when he was traded, along with Zach Miner, for Kyle Farnsworth.
Ryan Raburn led the way with an RBI double and a solo home run. He ow has six home runs on the season and he has an .840 OPS in limited time. Marcus Thames also went yard with a solo home run, his seventh of the season.
Tomorrow, Justin Verlander gets to try to stop the damage. Bruce Chen throws for the Royals. The Twins and White Sox were off so the Tigers now have a razor slim game and a half lead in the Central.
